Barbecue Sauce (Keto|Low Carb|Gluten Free)
This homemade BBQ Sauce is sweet and tangy. This sauce is great on pork chops, chicken dishes, wings and more!
Most store bought BBQ sauce is loaded with sugar. Making your own sauce is easy and allows you to control the amount of sugar.
Ready in 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup unsweetened ketchup (canned tomato sauce will work here too)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar (for low-carb and keto use Swerve Brown Sugar)
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce or coconut aminos.
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice.
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt or pink Himalayan salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Place all the ingredients in a pan over medium low heat. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.
Simmer for 8-10 minutes or until thickened. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze for up to 3 months
TIPS FOR HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE
Make sure to use smoked paprika, not regular paprika. Smoked paprika adds a special element to the sauce.
Store your BBQ sauce in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 1 week. You can also freeze your sauce for later use.
Try Frank’s Red Hot sauce for just a touch of spice. If you’re heat adverse, you can easily omit it.
